Events Industry Trends and Hot Topics for 2022!
Over the last few years, the events industry has been reinventing services and offerings to adapt to changing Government guidelines and requirements.
Lemonzest was quick to react and develop a covid secure event studio, power up our production for a virtual world and deliver microsites for many customer events.
It has been a turbulent time, but the events industry is a force to be reckoned with and you can’t hold us back. We breathe a sigh of relief that the current situation sees a return to the office and the events agenda back on top form. We love our live events!
Here are Lemon Zest’s predictions of event industry trends for 2022….
1. Virtual events will increase in frequency. There will always be a demand for in-person annual conferences, expos, award ceremonies, charity dinners and the like. We know as our events calendar is fast booking up with these events and venues we work with are experiencing the same. However, virtual events will become part of our regular communication programme with specific objectives around meaningful, tailored and personalised experiences. Companies with employees countrywide and overseas will continue to come together virtually - think quarterly sales reviews, or online learning.
2. Hybrid events will be a continuing focus this year. We believe the tech of hybrid events will become even more sophisticated, support online networking and be based around creating a more personal experience. There will also be a greater expectation on the ROI of events and this, in turn, leads to the need for poker-hot content that drives the focus.
3. Sustainable events will finally get a place on the agenda. Lemonzest has spoken about carbon conscious events for some time and incremental changes have been happening across the whole supply chain. The impact of covid provides a platform to make a difference as we realise there is an alternative way to how we deliver, experience and create events.
4. Christmas parties will have to make way for a summer addition. With 2021 end of year Christmas parties cancelled, postponed, or scaled back to a more subtle gathering, we see the return on summer socials on a big scale. Festival-style parties and outdoor socials will become a staple on the events calendar. Some will be grand affairs that include funfairs, entertainers and live music and others more modest team-building type events where partners and families are invited. Most won’t even need the summer sun as the options are plentiful – but of course, it helps 😊.
It would be great to get your thoughts on our predictions, so please comment 1, 2, 3, or 4 relating to the points above which you think is most relevant to your organisation.
Just to finish, the events industry and all of those involved from set-riggers, planners, technical crew and business owners, may we continue to be resilient, stand tall and reinvent ourselves. We should be proud of the industry we work in and the events we deliver. The LZ team has shown their true metal these last few years and adapted to become a stronger, more creative event partner. Here’s to a successful 2022!
