Welcoming 2023
Welcoming 2023
In my first blog of 2023, I would like to wish you all a healthy and prosperous New Year ahead.
The start of a new year sometimes generates pressure to do more, be better, and consequently set ourselves up to fail with a long list of things we want to change. So, before you re-write the rule book, be kind to yourself and maybe choose one or two things to focus on improving in 2023. Whether that is your business or career goals, your personal development, focusing on your health and well-being, or investing time in your team and colleagues.
Set intentions and set aside time to focus on achieving what you are setting out to do.
If health and well-being are on your list to prioritise, identify what you want to achieve. It might be a simple activity such as building five minutes into the start and end of each day to reflect, listen to a podcast, practice mindfulness, or meditate.
If focusing on your team and colleagues is something you want to nurture, then this could mean dedicating spending time with the team each day/week. It could involve daily briefings or quarterly team days off-site. You might want to consider a kickoff event to start the year or as your year-end approaches to get the team aligned.
I am very much looking forward to the year ahead. I have set some of my own personal goals and am excited for the Lemonzest business and team to continue to deliver events that challenge our creativity and push the boundaries in the events world.
The Meetings Industry Association predict “Collaborative, innovative and creative thinking will become even more essential as it is critical that venues focus on the overall experience they are able to deliver for clients.
Another prediction is that “greener meetings and more sustainable ways of operating will continue to be high on the agenda. As well as planet and profit, this also involves people and ensuring that organisations recognise the importance of implementing robust well-being strategies. This will be more important than ever as we seek to attract and retain talent in our wonderful sector and something we will be actively championing in the coming months.”
Whatever your plans and desires, let’s start the year with a clean page that allows us to be happier and more content. A post I shared a month or so ago from Action for Happiness has a January calendar that each day has a suggestion that allows us to do something kind and channel our thoughts to happiness.
